Identify whats missing from your current careerIf youre not sure how to change careers, reflect on why you want to make this move. That will enable you to develop a baseline strategy for your search. For example, if youre seeking mora challenging job responsibilities, does that mean you also want to escape your current industry? Maybe not. Perhaps you just need to pivot to a new role at a different type of company that is in the same or a similar industry. Two important questions to ask yourself when trying to pinpoint the core reasons for your current lack of job satisfaction are When was the last time I felt inspired by and proud of my work? and What do I really like to do most, both professionally and personally? Your answers are likely to be very enlightening and may even take your new career search in an entirely unexpected direction.Step 2. Assess your skills, experience and vermgenOnce you have a general sense of where you might want to forge a new professional path, you should evaluate whether you have the right skills and experience to reach your desired destination. To make that determination, start reviewing job ads to find out what employers seek in candidates for the roles that interest you most. Also, ask trusted contacts in your network for their thoughts on the professional strengths and weaknesses you have that could impact your ability to switch careers.Another consideration when deciding how to change careers is your potential to change. Do you think you could quickly gain the necessary skills to fill any gaps, either on the job or through other learning? Also, your relationship with an employment agency will be far more productive if you come prepared with a good sense of at least the general direction you want to take. You should also be aware of compensation trends in your industry and local market so that you can approach new career opportunities with reasonable expectations.Even if youre not 100 percent sure what type of job youre after, go into a meeting with a recruiter with a firm grasp of your own skills and talents and the confidence to present yourself. (See Steps 1 and 2) That determination will create a great first impression and help the agency find th e right opportunity for you. The more assured you are about your career objectives and what type of job and organizational culture you seek, the better able an employment agency will be to help you. While a staffing firm can be a valuable resource to help you sort out exactly how to change careers, the relationship will be most beneficial if youve already taken a few steps down your desired path - for example, by earning an in-demand credential. And though we take for granted just how amazing it is that we can make giant tin cans fly across the world, attaching things that go BOOM to those tin cans still gives those of us with the minds of adolescent males a bit more of a thrill. After all, without weapons, Top Gun would just be - Top. Hence the need for weapons, and the sailors who maintain them on naval aircraft Aviation ordnancemen (AO). The Navys Enlisted Classification Manual adds that AOs can even be responsible for a variety of equipment that is very much not involved in blowing things up, but still vital to ordnance operations aboard ship, such as sprinkler systems . . . and aircraft carrier weapons elevators. Why Cultural Fit Matters For Educators - Spark Hire

Why Cultural Fit Matters For Educators - Spark HireWe often read about how cultural fit matters within large offices, but its important to understand that cultural fit has the ability to shape a teachers effectiveness within their educational institution. Though school administrators must make sure to hire a person based on experience and skill, they should also consider how that individual will blend in with the schools community. How can cultural fit shape a teachers ability to positively impact their students lives? It happens in many ways. For exampleTeachers who feel like theyre a real part of the school community are generally more positive and energized than those who feel distant or disconnected from their colleagues. This allows them to radiate this positivity in the classroom, spreading it to their students.Teachers who see eye-to-eye with colleagues and administrators are able to implement changes more effectively, and can convey ideas to students in a way that makes sense. If the teacher doesnt understand the concepts that the school is enforcing, it will be hard for them to relay these ideas to their pupils effectively.Teachers who feel connected to their school are better able to collaborate with other educators, thus yielding more effective and cohesive lessons for students. The culture within a school can be a tricky thing to identify, which is often why educators and those hiring teachers struggle to make sure that a new employee is the right fit. For example, some schools place a heavy emphasis on athletics, while others value making sure that all students feel included. For those doing the hiring, understanding where your schools priorities lie fruchtwein heavily can help you to make better choices when it comes to finding the best cultural fit for a job. Its also important to have an honest conversation with potential new hires. Talk with them about where they place an emphasis as an educator. What matters to them? What kinds of values do they try to teach their students? In what kind of environment do they see themselves teaching? This type of dialogue helps to sort out differences between candidates, who may have similar qualifications, making it easier to see who the ideal fit truly is.Image leaf/Bigstock.com
